Competition Description:

The "Battle of the Paddle" is a multi-event competition emphasizing fun and safety while challenging paddlers' speed, strength, endurance and boat handling skills.  It will be held at the Louisiana Riverfront where spectators can view the entire event and cheer their favorite contestants on.  Winners will be determined by an accumulative point system.  An upstream/downstream race of five miles will be run first.  That will be followed by sprints, an obstacle course, tug-o-war, Eskimo rolls (kayaks only) and others events.
One boat to be used throughout the event.
First place prizes only to mens' and womens' classes over and under 40.
Separate classes for canoes and single kayaks.
A special "fun" contest for coed tandem kayak teams.

Directions: From St. Louis take I-70 West to Hwy. 79 in St. Peters.  Travel North on Hwy. 79 for 54 miles to Louisiana, MO.  Once in Louisiana turn right on Georgia St. and proceed to riverfront where parking is available.  Please be courteous and park in established parking spots.

General Information: All racers will be given a race number to affix to their boat to be used to capture official racer times for the race event.  Kayaks must have sealed bulkheads or sufficient floatation bags for safety.  All kayaks will be inspected by race officials to ensure safety.  Competition is sanctioned by the ACA and all participants will be required to be an existing ACA membership or purchase a one day ACA event coverage for $10 that will added to the race fee at registration.

Registration: Pre-registration is required through Active.com or through mail.  Participant packets must be picked up at registration pavilion at the Louisiana riverfront.

Event Rules: No alcohol will be consumed by event participants prior to the Landing Party.  No one under 15 years of age will be allowed to paddle.  Those 15 to 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult in order to paddle.  No entry level paddlers will be allowed on the main river channel.  All paddlers will sign an insurance liability waiver.  All boaters must wear PDFs (personal floatation devices) while on or near the water.  Event organizers reserve the right to alter or cancel any/all activities due to demand, inclement  weather or river conditions.

Competition Results: Results will be posted on Active.com.  Awards presentation will take place Sunday at Crown Valey Port House - Tievoli Hills.
